Description

Going to Congaree National Park was a last minute decision on our part. There had been a lot of flooding and a lot of the trails were closed. However, the Park Service's announcement stated that trails were beginning to open up, so we thought we would give it a try. This park was so peaceful, so pretty, and so different. This picture was taken from the edge of a trail with cypress trees in the forefront and a waterway in the background. The woody projections are cypress knees, something we had never seen or heard of before.
