Description

I captured this image in the Cades Cove area of the national park in the spring of 2020. There stood an 19th century mill just nestled in the woods like it belonged in a fairy tale. This historic mill is still functional and used for demonstrative purposes during certain parts of the year. It was amazing to see history kept alive and functional and not just a record or memory. With that said I do need to address the large mount of carvings I observed in the original wood of the structures in the area. I was sadden to see this but fully believe we can do better to preserve this living history all we have to do is spread awareness… so tell your friends and family no no to the carvings. We don’t need to know who hearts who, keep it on your notebooks at school. Thanks everyone!
