Description

“Fire in the Sky”
It was November 30th, “Black Friday”, and a friend and I needed an adventure. The Apostle Islands had been pounded by unrelenting freezing NE gales some days earlier. We suspected the early season ice in the outer ring of islands would be spectacular. After struggling to find an unfrozen boat launch, (we only found one in the entire archipelago!) we managed to get our boat in the water and ventured out - 22 miles from the mainland to Devil’s Island.
We were not disappointed.
