Description

I observed this bear in Chinitna Bay of Lake Clark National Park.

Our guide explained that this was an older cub, digging for razor clams in a tidal flat. He recounted how difficult it is to shovel in the flats yet the bears make it look so easy. I was impressed with the power of the bear's paw, as if he were running his claw through light sand and casually skewering clams.
